sql - Run xp_create_subdir without admin privilidges -
the point: want able create directory on filesystem through non-sysadmin sql user.
i'm creating web front-end deployment script creates new databases specified template database.
essentially i'm backing said template database , restoring brand new database different name.
our db server has our client databases stored in sub-folders within our database store. if use default settings like:
d:\microsoft sql server\mssql10.mssqlserver\mssql\data\[clientref]\[clientref].mdf d:\microsoft sql server\mssql10.mssqlserver\mssql\data\[clientref]\[clientref].ldf
i have sql access database server (via programming language, hosted on separate box) can't execute other sql.
my database user extremely limited, somehow grant user access/execute master.dbo.xp_create_subdir only. possible @ all?
i'm loathe give our local db user sys-admin rights, has limited user reason.
db server microsoft sql server 2008 r2.
cheers, appreciated.
you give access user use stored proc explicitly. gonna like:
grant execute on object::master.dbo.xp_create_subdir <sql user>;
it sounds user limited reason though , getting permissions run can little push whoever managing db. careful when dealing getting elevated privledges.
