single sign on - Is federation a valid approach for cross-domain SSO In case all the RPs and the STS are developed internally? -

i need implement single sign on feature several internal web applications not deployed on same domain.

is federation solution in case? or used if want federate authentication external idp.

i mean want create custom wif sts , make applications claims-aware rps.

i'm thinking of because don't want use custom solutions or third party libraries. wif seems have straightforward solution integrated .net framework.

is suggestion correct? or incorrect use wif.

yes - solution wif / sts work if it's internal.

beware of security if roll own.

you may want @ adfs or identityserver.

going route make life lot easier.
